Welcome Casey to KC Key Solutions!

Hello there again, it’s a great Friday and I’m in the writing mood.

Casey started with us a couple of weeks ago and he’s doing great.  He’s managing some of our larger revolving maintenance accounts and he’s got the flair for customer service.  In fact, he’s even ridden along with me on a few jobs to see how a veteran handles his business 😉

So if you get a call from KC Key Solutions, you might hear from this young man.  It’s kind of fun to hear him say “Hi, this is Casey from KC Key”.  Say it out loud and you’ll notice a lot of “KC” going on there!

He’s made it through a couple of weeks…and he hasn’t quit yet.  Now let’s see how he does during our busy season, right?

Have a safe afternoon.  Ryan

Cabinets, of course!

Hello there!  Remember me?  It’s Ryan and KC Key and I admit it’s been a while.

Business has been…busy.  I know that I’ve been in this position before but truthfully we’ve been working 14 hour days and a few things just got pushed off.  Like blogging.   It’s always the fun stuff that goes first!

So we finished up a cabinet project for a customer today and it came out great.  We have a lot of new pictures to show you from the last couple of months but let’s start here and work our way back.

Monday we took the cabinets to our warehouse for painting.  Here’s Casey and Adam doing the heavy lifting from our trailer:

Then we got them sprayed with several coats of semi-gloss paint.  The finish came out fantastic!  This was a remodel and cabinet “match” to an existing kitchen layout.  We worked them into place, yes that’s me hiding behind the door:

And then the big reveal…the final product after we got both cabinets in with the crown molding and scribe.  they look like they have always been there!

If you’e got an eye for detail, you’ll notice that we ducted the wall heater register and rerouted it to the bottom of the pantry cabinet on the left.  It was a slick install and the customer didn’t lose her heat in the kitchen.  That’s always a plus 😉

So I’m going to try to get us back on track with a few new blogs each week and I’ve got a ton of tips and DIY stuff that will make you happy.  Need someone to help you with your next kitchen cabinet project?  Call us at KC Key Solutions.  913-686-6278 and we can take care of business for you.  In fact, we’ve got a huge cabinet project coming up.  We are building custom desks for a big client of ours and I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures!

Thanks, have a good weekend.  Ryan

So we are remodeling an old house and I found your underwear.

So my title got your attention, didn’t it?

It’s true…we are remodeling an old house.  In fact, it’s about 110 years old, and it still has the original lath and plaster walls and ceilings installed.  Well, not any more…that was some of the first work that we got started on; removing all of that material and getting it to the dump was a chore.  The living room alone was 1,600 lbs of old plaster that we removed – it was a big day!

So we are on to the ceilings which we almost left alone.  But since the decision was made to pull them down, we got to work.  As my story progresses, I did find some underwear up in the ceiling.  But let me set the stage for this story a bit.

It was late at night and I ended up doing some of this demo alone.  The lights were mostly off, this is a 110 year old house, and as I’m removing the 8′ ceilings to reveal these amazing 9′ ceilings that got covered up at some point, the attic was becoming visible at times and once in a while I peeked up to see what I could see.  However it was late, dark and I was getting a little spooked.  Who knows what is up in an old attic, right?

So I’m kind of on my guard…but I’m a grown man and I know that there can’t be anything to worry about. Gulp.

That’s when my crowbar pulled down a leg…a leg to these old underwear that had been stashed up in the attic a long time ago.

I know it doesn’t look like much…but I stopped and took a closer look.  Here’s the tag inside of these beauties:

It says “Quality Russco Underwear”.  So I looked them up, and it appears that this clothing manufacturer went out of business in 1920.  WOW!  That means likely these have been up in this attic for approximately 100 years.  As I kept digging further, there were a lot of clothes…kids clothes, dresses, and what appeared to be old curtains or tablecloths.  I think someone had finished with these items and stuffed them up in the attic for insulation, until I pulled them down this week!  Crazy.

So I’m still looking for the box of gold that is hiding up there…but I’m sure I’ll just get another “box of old” 😉

Strange finds, and I’ll let you know if any other treasures pop up.

Take care, Ryan

Another basement remodel in the works!

Hi there friends, it’s been a little bit and I apologize.  Last week we had 2 houses to finish painting and also a deck on a restaurant; it’s been a lot of long days to get finished in time before the rain hit Kansas City Sunday…

Now we are working on a basement that was a blank canvas when we started!  Now that the framing is done, we are ready to hang some sheetrock.

IMG_3767.jpg

We’ve started on the ceiling and you can see in the background the cost bar that the customer wanted in the back nook.  I think it’s going to look fantastic!

IMG_3768.jpg

Here’s the bathroom that is going in the back corner; the customer also wants lots of rock accents so we are prepping for that as well.  This is a huge basement that will work well for his three sons.  Can you imagine having your own “man-cave” as a high school student?  These guys are going to be the talk of the school (I hope!)

So today we are back at it…I promise that I’ll be blogging more and talking a little about some of the other projects that we have going on now.  Until then, stay safe, and send some band-aids my way.

Take care, Ryan

We’re on the Map!

Hello there friends – this business requires long hours and and it’s one heck of a workout.  Yesterday we were in the middle of a house painting job and we are currently stopped due to bad weather.  The joys of mother nature!

So this has given me some time to work on the website and do a little magic for KC Key Solutions on the Internet.

Screen Shot 2016-04-26 at 10.06.09 AM.pngI’ve got our new location listed in Google Maps and have submitted to Apple Maps as well.  These are important for our customers that are looking for us on the Internet.  I’ve got a lot of experience with the Internet and these things take some time…

Need directions?  Check out Google Maps or just give us a call.  913-686-6278.  I’ll help you out.  Stay dry!

Ryan

Free Estimates. We’d love to check out your project.

Good morning,

We know that there are home improvement projects that might seem a little too daunting to tackle yourself.  I set out and started KC Key Solutions with the intention to try to “fix” the construction industry in regard to customer service and homeowner expectations.

We want to be the premier service company for your painting, basement finish, deck, remodel, bathroom or kitchen finish.  Heck we do commercial work too; for you small business owners (like myself), I know how hard it can be to get good work done.  KC Key Solutions is here for you.

calendar

I’ve personally had several unsavory experiences with different tradesmen over the years, and I’ve often thought to myself “how does this guy stay in business?”  I can remember one time that I almost had to call the police because a repair man was yelling at me, in my own kitchen, because we agreed on one price but then he changed it (after the repair was done) and he wanted to almost double it.  This particular company is a HUGE name in the business in Kansas City as well – and I’ll never call them again.  Not all repairmen are this terrible, and we’re here to change the way people look at our industry.

This is one reason we put our quotes in writing.  The last thing that we want to do to a customer is have any surprises.  We also provide FREE ESTIMATES on the project you’re requesting.  Some projects are very entailed, some are easier to quote – but rest assured we’ll look it over and give you a fair (if not unbeatable) price.   We’re LOW PRESSURE and will only call back if you want us to.  Our work and relationships speak for themselves.

Additionally we’re here to provide an honest service, give good advice, and offer a “value add” to each project.  We’ve got a commercial location with a design room and we’re fully commercially insured on each project (that’s good for you!)  When our customers are happy, we get referrals – and with referrals we keep working.  That what I want…I want to keep working.

So even if we don’t win you over on your next project bid; have us give it a quote anyway.  There’s nothing wrong with a few opinions and price checking.  If we can’t beat another home improvement company’s price we’ll tell you up front, but I doubt that will be the case.  I know that if we work together you’ll have peace of mind because you’ll be able to talk to us, get results and call us back for that next project on the list.

Questions?  Ready for a quote?  Click here to get on the books!

Thanks, Ryan
